Just For You

Just in time for the end of week 2 of Darnell's NBUS challenge (Never Before Uses Stuff) and as I'm sure you all do I have much of that.  I pulled out this fabulous set from  Inspired by Stamping and did a bit of a twist on the theme (Hidden Word) as the recipient is not a stamper.

Hedgehog Kisses

Gerda Steiner has a monthly challenge and every month that you enter you get the next month's digital image for free, it's always exciting to open up that e-mail and see what you will be creating with.  This month is the cute Hedgehog Smooches, I colored them up with KOH-I-NOR pencils, used glitter pens on the hearts and layered some fun papers.

Gumballs

Time for the weekly challenge at The House that Stamps Built.  Everyone's favorite "Anything Goes" is now a regular challenge every month, so link your current card up or make a card with Repeat Impression stamps  for an extra change for to win the monthly drawing for a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate (and remember I have a discount code on my sidebar!)

I used one of my favorite sets:  Contain Yourself Series  which covers every occasion, the pieces are also all sold separate.  I made this card for a male co-workers birthday.  I make all the group birthday cards and the men one's are the most challenging so this set was a great addition to my collection.

I used my Copic markers,  Glossy Accents, and some gumball looking paper that has been in my stash forever.

I hope you will visit my delightful teammates blogs to see what they have created:

Coffee Time

I needed to get a birthday card in the mail and wanted to join Darnell's fun NBUS challenge so I did my first inking of STAMPlorations Latte Love which I have had for some time and have never usedt and used my KOH-I-NOR pencils on kraft paper.  I've made this fun fold before but wanted to take it up a notch so added extra patterned papers and did some distressing with Tim Holtz's distressing inks.  The lid has glossy accents on it.

Hope you are having a fun and crafty weekend and enjoying some good coffee!

Sending Smiles

I had so much fun with this card.  I water colored the background with some new Canson watercolor papers which seem to have a bit of a shimmer to them.  I then added some Brusho's in greens and a tint of yellow.  Since my paper was so saturated I dipped another watercolor sheet on it and ended up with two layers to play with.  After embossing Gina K's You Make Me Smile (a NBUS set) set in silver I sprayed my paper with a Copper sheer shimmer mist.   I then added  die cut stitching, layered it up and added a die cut butterfly. A close up is below.

Thanks for stopping by, I always appreciate you comments!

This week is a picture inspiration and I went with the colors for my inspiration and used Repeat Impressions Butterfly 9001-L and patterned paper by ki: Vintage Charm.  I did pull in a bit of aqua instead of the grey to get the look I wanted.

I hope you will join the challenge this week at The House that Stamps Built - you don't have to use Repeat Impression stamps but you will get an extra chance to win a $25 gift certificate if you do use Repeat Impression stamps.  On my sidebar is a discount coupon for anytime you order from Repeat Impressions.

House That Stamps Built Project of the Week

Project of the week: Easy Shaker Card

Welcome everyone.  It is my turn for the Project of the Week here at the House That Stamps Built.  I saw a video on Jennifer McGuires's blog awhile back on making shaker cards that is so easy that I now am hooked on shaker cards and wanted to share it with you. My tutorial is in my own words, and I did not refer back to Jennifer's blog so my instructions, number of layers, type of adhesives and my instruction may be quite different.

Gather supplies as indicated:

White A2 card, pattern paper of choice cut to 4" by 5 1/4 ":

Frame die, cut 6:

Sheet of acetate cut to fit your frame:

Glue 5 of the 6 frames together with a liquid glue, I
prefer a tacky glue which allows time to reposition and
dries fast:

Attach pattern paper to card front.  Color image of your
cut to fit your frame and glue to pattern paper:

Attach frame with Tacky glue or adhesive and fill with
sequins, do not overfill:

Use double sided tape to attach acetate to the 6th frame and
on top of the acetate:

Attach acetate layer:

I hope this will inspire you to try shaker cards.  Thanks for stopping by.

House That Stamps Built: Designer Choice Challenge

It's time for a new challenge at The House that Stamps Built and I am excited to be starting the New Year as a member of their design team.   Our first challenge of the New Year is a Designers Choice Challenge (DCC) picked by Shirley and is Winter has just begun (not Christmas).

I inked up 2719-K Large Pine Tree numerous times with Tim Holtz pine needles Distress Ink and did some 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation stamping.  I added embossing ink with my Versamark pen and added white embossing powder to the trees and a die cut deer.  After stamping 8606-E Happy Birthday with the same ink, I did some die cutting and dry embossing and this is the card I came up with.  One of my New Year resolutions is to make more masculine cards so this is my start.

We hope you will join the challenge this week at The House that Stamps Built - you don't have to use Repeat Impression stamps but you will get an extra chance to win a $25 gift certificate if you do use Repeat Impression stamps.  On my sidebar is a discount coupon for anytime you order from Repeat Impressions.

Happy New Year

Time for another fun challenge at House of Cards.

Add a Building and/or Colors:

I am excited to be back for another term with House of Cards.  As you see from above I went with the colors using a digital set New Year Greeting by MHK Designs.  I used metallic paste on my designer paper, coated it with Distress clear rock candy crackle paint and then sprinkled some glitter on top. I did the same with some die cut stars.  Close up below.
